Failure Analysis
20 November
Failure analysis is the process of collecting and analyzing data to determine the cause; also to resolve whether a component or product fails in-service or occurs in the manufacturing process. The analysis will help to prevent future occurrence, to establish corrective measures, or to determine liabilities for insurance purposes. The analysis process relies on profound knowledge in material properties and their behaviors, manufacturing process, and operating conditions. Nondestructive testing and materials testing results obtained from failed components are also essential to the fact-finding.
